Social media insights are a powerful tool for understanding your audience and improving your social media strategy. These data can provide you a wider understanding of how your content is performing, who is engaging with it, and what changes you can make to ensure your messaging is hitting your target audience; it means you can streamline your campaigns for maximum success, with real facts and figures acting as the driving force behind your creative ideas.

To get the most from your social media, it is vital to understand the insights and data pulled through from your chosen reporting software, whether you are utilising Meta Business Suite, or an alternative such as Sprout Social or Hootsuite.

Here are some key metrics to watch:

Impressions: The number of times a post was seen; these are not unique views, and so can include data from the same person or device. If impressions are ‘organic’ it means they were seen without the support of a paid promotion, similarly ‘paid’ impressions have financial backing to help drive more traffic.

Reach: This refers to the unique number of people who saw your post. Unlike impressions, reach counts each individual user, so you have a clear understanding of how many people are receiving your message.

Engagement: Refers to the amount of interactions your audience has made with your content, whether it’s a like, share, or a comment. Top tip: liking, sharing and commenting on accounts relevant to your business will help to boost your own engagement.
