Buzzword rebrands national, government-facing payments giant
As part of a major transformational programme, the Payments Council appointed Buzzword to help them build a new brand and visual identity which would reflect the shift of their remit within the Banking, Finance & Payments industry.
As a highly established trade association and delivery body responsible for innovations in payments such Paym and Current Account Switching Service, it was vital that their new brand reflected their contemporary relevance, and provided them with a strong connection to help build stronger, broader stakeholder partnerships.
Buzzword’s role was to work with them from the ground up. We researched their industry landscape both nationally and globally and focussed the new brand around Leading the way we pay, shifting the emphasis away from professional body towards thought leader and committed business ally.
From there we worked closely with their internal project team to find a name which underpinned the new brand position and reflected their contemporary relevance. As a result, the Payments Council would become Payments UK.
With the new name and stakeholder proposition agreed, we created a new logo and Creative Platform based around a spark, reflecting Payments UK’s innovative ideas and thought leadership.
The next stage was Brand Application and we carried the new visual identity across a full suite of marketing collateral from letterhead to brochures, from website design to a fully animated launch presentation.
Our final task was to set the rules, crafting Brand Guidelines and a Brand Book to help internal employees and third parties understand and govern the new brand.
Alex Smith, Payments UK Marketing Manager commented:
‘We chose to work with Buzzword because we were confident that they would deliver innovative, practical brand solutions. As a high profile organisation, working in a complex industry, our creative partner needed to understand our needs and objectives.’
